This is a nationwide statistical survey conducted according to the SMART model and has been organised in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Action (MSAS).\n\nThe ENSANR is a stratified, two-stage sample survey. The calculation of the size of the different samples was carried out using the ENA software, July 2015 version. The sample was drawn by the Agence nationale de la Statistique et de la D\u00e9mographie (ANSD) with the sampling frame from the 2013 RGPHAE.\n\nThe RDs and households were drawn using the systematic drawing procedure. Within each selected household, all children aged 0-59 months were included in the sample.\n\nData collection was done using tablets via the SapMobil application. The data entered was sent daily to the platform for quality and completeness analysis and feedback to supervisors and team leaders in the field.\n\nThe survey is repeated every three (3) to five (5) years.","coll_dates":[{"start":"2019-01-28","end":"2019-02-20","cycle":""}],"nation":[{"name":"Senegal","abbreviation":"SEN"}],"geog_coverage":"National coverage","analysis_unit":"Households","universe":"All ordinary rural and urban households in the 14 regions and 45 departments of Senegal.","data_kind":"Sample survey data [ssd]","notes":"The scope of the study covers:\n\n- Characteristic of the household\n- Household living conditions\n- Household food consumption\n- Household income and expenditure\n- Shocks and coping strategies\n- Women's anthropometry\n- Child anthropometry\n- Infant and young child feeding\n- Salt Iodization"},"method":{"data_collection":{"sampling_procedure":"The sampling method chosen for this survey was a two-stage systematic cluster random sampling.\n\nThe selection of the census districts was done by a systematic random draw based on the probability proportional to the population size of the primary sampling units (PSUs). The selection of households was done using the systematic random method with a sampling step (P).\n\nIn total, the sample consisted of 16 strata, 515 census districts (CDs), 7,847 households, 11,684 children under 5 years of age and 12,783 women.","sampling_deviation":"0.2% (2 RDs) of Dakar's census districts not visited\n\n5.2% of planned households not surveyed (only Diourbel, Fatick, Kaffrine and Kolda regions had 100%)","coll_mode":"Computer Assisted Personal Interview [capi]","research_instrument":"Household questionnaire\nQuestionnaire anthopometry children 0-59 months\nAnthopometric questionnaire women 15-49 years","coll_situation":"Data collection was carried out by 32 teams of 4 agents throughout the country.
