The programme will contribute to building sustainable food security and resilience to shocks and stressors among men, women, boys and girls and households, with a particular focus on vulnerable women and children. Thus, the programme focuses on: i) increasing the availability of and access to a nutritious, diverse and stable food supply; ii) increasing the quantity and quality of productive assets at the household and community level; iii) nutrition; iv) strengthening effective governance of common natural resources; and v) enhancing gender equality, through gender mainstreaming in all interventions aimed at empowering women.","coll_dates":[{"start":"2017-07","end":"2017-08","cycle":""}],"nation":[{"name":"Democratic Republic of the Congo","abbreviation":"COD"}],"geog_coverage":"Regional","analysis_unit":"Households","data_kind":"Sample survey data [ssd]","notes":"Household characteristics - Nutritional diversity - Coping strategies - Social networks - Shocks - Perception - Exposure to conflicts - Employment - Productivity - Credit - Agriculture"},"method":{"data_collection":{"sampling_procedure":"In COD, the programme is implemented in Rutshuru territory in North Kivu Province. Approximately 12,500 households are supported, mainly through community-based organizations. Stratified sampling proportional to the population was adopted to collect enough observations to be statistically representative at the administrative level of the territories. The territories of Masisi and Rutshuru were selected as primary sampling units (PSUs). The final sample is approximately 1,724 households that provided statistically representative information for each of the two selected territories. The total sample size was 470 households for Masisi and 535 for Rutshuru.
