The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). FAO launched a household survey in the Sudan through the Data in Emergencies Monitoring (DIEM-Monitoring) System to monitor agricultural livelihoods and food security. Data were conducted through face-to-face surveys in ten of eighteen states in the Sudan and included: Central Darfur, Gadaref, Gazira, Kassala, North Darfur, North Kordofan, South Darfur, South Kordofan, West Darfur and White Nile.
