The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). FAO conducted this sixth-round of data collection from 13 June to 10 July 2024 in Haiti. A total of 2700 households in all ten departments were interviewed. Survey estimates are representative at the department level. To improve the representation of specific livelihood zones and increase the number of rural respondents, Artibonite, Nord and Nord-Ouest departments were stratified. The Ouest department was further stratified to improve the representation of several communes particularly exposed to impact of the escalation in violence and insecurity in Haiti.

For more information, see https://data-in-emergencies.fao.org/pages/monitoring.
HOUSEHOLD : household information
INCOME SOURCES, SHOCKS : income changes, shocks experienced by households
CROP PRODUCTION : crops planted, area planted, area harvested, crop production difficulties
CROP MARKETING : crop sale difficulties, crop sale price
LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION : types of livestock present on holding, number of livestock, livestock production difficulties
LIVESTOCK MARKETING : livestock sale, livestock sale difficulties, livestock sale price
FISHERIES PRODUCTION : fish activity, comparison of fish production
FISHERIES MARKETING : fish sale, fish sale difficulties, fish sale price
FOOD SECURITY AND CONSUMPTION : food consumption, food utilization, comping strategies
NEEDS ASSISTANCE : open questions on the needs for assistance
A total of 2700 households in all ten departments were interviewed using computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) with a panel approach and random digital dialing. Specifically, livelihood zones define geographic areas of a country where people generally share similar options for obtaining food and income and similar access to markets. Therefore, base weights at the LHZ/admin1 level were computed to correct for unequal probabilities of selection across these areas. The education level of head of household was used as a wealth proxy at admin 1 level to adjust for socioeconomic bias.
The datasets have been edited and processed for analysis by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Data in Emergencies (DIEM) Hub at the Office of Emergencies and Resilience, with some dashboards and visualizations produced.
