The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). FAO launched the twelfth round of the DIEM-Monitoring household survey in Sierra Leone to assess agricultural livelihoods and food security. Data collection took place from 10 September to 8 October 2024 through face-to-face interviews across all 16 districts. They aim to achieve a 10 percent margin of error, a 95 percent confidence level, administrative-level granularity, and sufficient sample sizes for key target populations, including agricultural households.\n\nThe DIEM Round 12 survey in Sierra Leone applied a stratified sampling design covering all 16 administrative districts. The sampling was representative at the district (admin2) level, except for Pujehun, where the minimum target was not reached. Households were randomly selected from the rural and semi-urban population within each district, ensuring proportional representation across agricultural livelihood types (crop, livestock, and mixed producers).
