These responsibilities are ensured in conjuction with other directorates, services and parastatals of the ministry.\n\nIn this context, an Annual Agricultural Survey (AAS) is organized in all regions of the country, to obtain structural and economic data. The survey, implemented by the Statistics, Documentation and Agricultural Information Division, consists of measuring the crop plots for a given crop year. The measuring instruments are compass, milestones, metric tape, programmable calculator and GPS. The plot area is expressed in hectares. Other information on sowing dates, types of distribution, types of crops, inputs used are also collected.\n\nThe agricultural survey is an annual statistical operation whose general objective is to estimate the level of the main agricultural productions. It concerns crops grown on family-type farms. The objective of the agricultural survey, for each district, includes:\nEvery year:\n- mid-season crop forecasts, particularly for cereals\n- an estimate of the area, yield and production of the main crops at the end of the season\n- an assessment of the quantities of inputs held and\/or used by the producers\n- an assessment of cereal stocks held by producers\n\nEvery 5 years:\n- the structure and characteristics of the population of agricultural holdings;\n- an assessment of the numbers of livestock and farm equipment.","coll_dates":[{"start":"2011-07-01","end":"2011-10-30","cycle":""}],"nation":[{"name":"Senegal","abbreviation":"SEN"}],"geog_coverage":"National coverage.","analysis_unit":"Agricultural holdings","universe":"All agricultural households drawn from the primary units (Census districts).","data_kind":"Sample survey data [ssd]","notes":"1.
