Abstract
The FAO has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). The FAO launched a first-round household survey in Sri Lanka through computer-assisted telephone interviews. Data was collected between 25 September and 12 November 2022.This first-round survey reached a random sample of 2404 households stratified at the provincial level. The survey targeted the nine provinces of the country – Central, Eastern, North Central, North Western, Northern, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva and Western. Sampling Procedure
This first-round survey reached a random sample of 2404 households stratified at the provincial level. The survey targeted the nine provinces of the country - Central, Eastern, North Central, North Western, Northern, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva and Western. Quotas were imposed on the agro-ecological zones - Intermediate zone/VLHZ, Intermediate zone/LK13, low-country wet zone, Up/mid country wet zone, dry zone/LK06, dry zone/LK13 and dry zone - to allow for analysis and reporting at these levels too.
Weighting
Data were weighted for demographics, engagement in agriculture and a wealth proxy (type of toilet).

The datasets have been edited and processed for analysis by the Needs Assessment team at the Office of Emergencies and Resilience, FAO, with some dashboards and visualizations produced. For more information, see https://data-in-emergencies.fao.org/pages/countries.
Other Processing
The dataset was anonymized using Statistical Disclosure methods by the Data in Emergencies Hub team and reviewed by the Data Dissemination Team of the Statistics division at FAO. All direct identifiers have been removed prior to data submission.
In addition, recoding and local suppressions were applied to ensure data confidentiality. Recoding was especially applied to variables, such as education, source of electricity and toilet types.

Confidentiality
The users shall not take any action with the purpose of identifying any individual entity (i.e. person, household, enterprise, etc.) in the micro dataset(s). If such a disclosure is made inadvertently, no use will be made of the information, and it will be reported immediately to FAO
Access conditions
Micro datasets disseminated by FAO shall only be allowed for research and statistical purposes. Any user which requests access working for a commercial company will not be granted access to any micro dataset regardless of their specified purpose. Users requesting access to any datasets must agree to the following minimal conditions:
- The micro dataset will only be used for statistical and/or research purposes;
- Any results derived from the micro dataset will be used solely for reporting aggregated information, and not for any specific individual entities or data subjects;
