    Series Information

This is the first survey on agricultural losses conducted in Niger that covers both physical and declarative measurements.

    Abstract

The main objective of this survey is to enhance the quality and reliability of data of the National Statistical System (SSN, Système Statistique National). Specifically, it will:

    • Measure agricultural losses during harvesting and post-harvest activities for the 2024 agricultural season
    • Update existing values and establish values for other crops
    • Propose an operational strategy to reduce post-harvest losses
    • Improve the quality and reliability of statistics on agricultural losses

The survey covered a nationally representative sample of 720 households. The main sections covered in this study are:

    • Socio-demographic characteristics of the households
    • Agricultural practices
    • Physical measurement of agricultural losses
    • Declarative measurement of agricultural losses

    • Diffa: Mainé-soroa, Diffa, and Goudoumaria
    • Dosso: Boboye, Gaya, Dosso, Dogondoutchi, Dioundiou, Loga, and Tibiri
