Agricultural Survey [ag/oth]
This sixth-round survey was conducted between 19 December 2023 and 17 January 2024. The fifth round survey was conducted between 5 and 31 September 2023, the fourth round between 16 December 2022 and 10 January 2023, the third round between 8 August and 7 September 2022, the second round between 29 November and 14 December 2021.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). Between 19 December 2023 and 17 January 2024, FAO conducted a household survey in Chad through the Data in Emergencies Monitoring (DIEM-Monitoring) Survey to monitor agricultural livelihoods and food security. This sixth-round survey reached a sample of 5 683 households through face-to-face interviews in 22 departments in Kanem, Lac, Logone Occidental, Moyen-Chari, Moyen-Kebbi Est and Wadi Fira. The survey is representative at the department level (administrative level 2).

This sixth-round survey used face-to-face interviews with a sample of 5 683 households in 22 departments in Kanem, Lac, Logone Occidental, Moyen-Chari, Moyen-Kebbi Est and Wadi Fira. The survey is representative at the department level (administrative level 2), and the sample was designed with a margin of error of 10 percent.
Base weights were applied to correct for unequal probabilities of selection across administrative level 2 regions. These weights were calculated using population figures to ensure the sample reflects the actual population distribution at that level.
