Agricultural Survey [ag/oth]
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis. FAO conducted the fifth round of the DIEM household survey in Cameroon from 2 February to 14 March 2024. Data were collected through computer-assisted telephone interviews across all ten regions of the country, reaching a total of 4200 households.

Sampling
Data were collected across all ten regions of the country, reaching a total of 4200 households. The data collection period coincided with the end of the dry season and the beginning of the short rainy season in the western and northwestern regions.
Surveys are designed based on country-specific needs, objectives, and constraints. The sample design ensures a 10 percent margin of error and a 95 percent confidence level at the target administrative level, and aims to achieve these precision levels for key variables within the targeted populations, including agricultural households.
Final survey weights were calculated at admin 1 level to ensure representativeness and correct for sampling imbalances. Regional weights were applied to adjust for disproportionate sampling across regions. Post-stratification weights were applied using wealth proxies, specifically access to safe drinking water, and the education level of household heads.

Data processing
The datasets have been edited and processed for analysis by the Data in Emergencies Hub (DIEM) team at the Office of Emergencies and Resilience, FAO, with some dashboards and visualizations produced. For more information, see https://data-in-emergencies.fao.org/pages/countries.
STATISTICAL DISCLOSURE CONTROL (SDC)
The dataset was anonymized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Data in Emergencies (DIEM) Hub and reviewed by the Statistics Division, using Statistical Disclosure methods in accordance with FAO Corporate Statistical Disclosure Control Protocol. Micro datasets disseminated by FAO shall only be allowed for research and statistical purposes.
