    Sampling

    Sampling Procedure

Kebeles, which are the lowest administrative structures in the country, were used to identify the population to be included in the study.

A list of pregnant women was created by identifying the number of pregnant women living in each of the 10 selected kebeles using information from health extension workers who are responsible for the house-to-house basic health care support in their respective kebeles. Random numbers were generated using the software Statistical Package for Social Science version 20 (SPSS v20), and the pregnant women corresponding to the generated numbers were selected to be included in the study.

For the selection of non-pregnant women, data from Butajira Rural Health Program (BRHP) was used because it contained all the lists of households in the Meskan district in Butajira, and simple random sampling was then employed to identify the study participants.

    Weighting

No survey weights were used in this survey.
