    Abstract

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture of Lebanon, conducted the sixth-round household survey via Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) between 31 October and 30 November 2023. Targeting the agricultural population, the survey utilized the sampling frame of the core module of the 2010 Lebanon Agricultural Census. The survey covered seven governorates with 150 households interviewed in each, and 1050 agricultural holdings were selected using systematic random sampling method. Survey results are comparable to previous rounds and were weighted at the analytical stage to ensure representativeness.

    Sampling

    Sampling Procedure

The survey targeted the agricultural population using the sampling frame of agricultural holdings of the 2010 Lebanon Agricultural Census, which lists almost 170 000 holdings (Ministry of Agriculture of Lebanon and FAO, 2012). A total of 1050 agricultural households were interviewed across seven governorates - Akkar, Baalbek-El Hermel, Bekaa, El Nabatieh, Mount Lebanon, North and South - with 150 agricultural households selected from each governorate using systematic random sampling method.

    Weighting

A standard weighting approach is used, although the specific combination of weights depends on factors such as subgroup quotas, availability of baseline data, and appropriate context-specific wealth indicators. Specifically, data were weighted at the analytical stage to ensure that farm size and regional population distribution were adequately represented and comparable to previous rounds.
