Agricultural Survey [ag/oth]
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). This fifth-round survey was conducted through Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviews from 11 October to 30 October 2023 and reached 3306 households. Data collection took place at the peak of the rainy season, before or at the onset of harvest across five states: Adamawa, Borno, Katsina, Yobe and Zamfara. Data were collected at administrative level 2 in Zamfara, across all 14 local government areas.

Sampling
The sample comprised panel respondents, supplemented by respondents identified through random digit dialing (RDD) where panel recruitment alone was insufficient to meet target sample sizes. Panel respondents were randomly selected from previous rounds of the survey carried out either by Face-to-Face Interviews (R2 F2F) or Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviews (R3 and R4 CATI). A total of 3306 households were surveyed.
A standard weighting approach is used, although the specific combination of weights depends on factors such as subgroup quotas, availability of baseline data, and appropriate context-specific wealth indicators. Specifically, data were weighted using population counts at administrative level 2.

Data processing
The datasets have been edited and processed for analysis by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Data in Emergencies (DIEM) Hub at the Office of Emergencies and Resilience, with some dashboards and visualizations produced.
