Agricultural Survey [ag/oth]
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). FAO conducted the eighth round of DIEM-Monitoring household level data collection in Mali between 4 June and 9 July 2024, during the dry and pastoral lean season, to assess agricultural livelihoods and food security. Data were collected by computer-assisted telephone interviews reaching 1404 households in Gao, Kayes, Koulikoro, Ménaka, Mopti, Ségou, Sikasso and Tombouctou regions. The survey estimates are representative at regional level.

Data were collected by computer-assisted telephone interviews reaching 1404 households in Gao, Kayes, Koulikoro, Ménaka, Mopti, Ségou, Sikasso and Tombouctou regions. As in the seventh round, the quota of households required in Kidal could not be met due to the security situation. The survey estimates are representative at regional level. The sample consisted of panel respondents, while additional respondents were identified through random digit dialing (RDD) to reach the sample size targets.
The weights used for this survey were:
In this round, the baseline information for Menaka was insufficient for one of the education variables; and for Koulikoro, there were 2 households that were 'responsible' for extreme final weights (92). Therefore, it was decided to recode the following education levels together: primary school, secondary school, and higher education. Therefore, there are 3 groups of education levels: head of households with no education, with formal education, and with religious education.
