Series Information
The 2013 Agriculture Census (AC) is a census conducted by the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) every 10 years in the year ending in "3". AC 2013 is the sixth census carried out since Indonesia's independence.
Abstract
In accordance with Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 16 of 1997 concerning Statistics, the holding of population censuses, agricultural censuses and economic censuses is conducted every 10 years. Furthermore, the Republic of Indonesia Government Regulation Number 51 Year 1999 concerning the Implementation of Statistics states that the time for holding a population census is in the year ending with number 0 (zero), agricultural census in the year ending with number 3 (three), and the economic census in the year ending in number 6 (six) ). The holding of the Agricultural Census has been carried out by Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) since 1963. This means that the 2013 Agricultural Census (AC) is the sixth time. Agricultural activities covered in the previous agricultural census and in AC 2013 include 6 subsectors, namely: food crops, horticulture, plantations, livestock, fisheries, and forestry.

AC 2013 is a large activity so its implementation must be carried out in several stages, both preparation and implementation. Preparation for AC 2013 has been carried out starting in 2010, while the implementation begins with the Updating of Agricultural Companies Directory (SPP) which was carried out in 2012. The peak of the AC 2013 activity was carried out in May 2013 by conducting a complete enumeration of the Agricultural Business. Then proceeded with the Agriculture Household Income Survey (SPP) in November 2013 and the Sub-sector Survey in 2014. Data generated from the AC 2013 activity can provide an actual picture of the condition of agriculture in Indonesia. This is very useful for development planning and is very much awaited and expected by all parties.

Data was collected on agriculture business households, mastery / business / activities of food crops (rice and secondary crops), horticultural crop management, plantation business management, animal husbandry / business management, fishery business activities, forestry plant business and other forestry activities, household land tenure information.

The main objective of the AC 2013 includes:

1. Obtain complete and accurate agricultural statistical data in order to obtain a clear picture of agriculture in Indonesia;

2. Obtaining a sampling frame that can be used as a basis for sampling for surveys in the agricultural sector;

3. Obtaining a variety of information about the population of agricultural businesses, smallholder households, number of trees and livestock, distribution of tenure and land use according to broad groups, and so on. The results of the complete enumeration of AC 2013 will also be used as benchmarks for surveys in the agricultural sector.

Sampling

Sampling Procedure
AC 2013 is a complete enumeration activity carried out in all regions of Indonesia. The census block that was covered by AC 2013 is the usual census block that contains SP 2010 household contents, the preparation census block for the household, and the special census block. In carrying out a complete enumeration, the administrative area (village / kelurahan) in the district and the census block in the city are grouped based on their agricultural concentration. The grouping of regions determines the method of data collection in the field. By taking into account the distribution of agricultural business households that are quite different between regency and city areas, the classification of agricultural concentration areas for the implementation of complete enumeration is carried out by different methods, namely:

1) Regency
a. Rural areas
The complete enumeration of AC 2013 farming households is conducted door-to-door, considering that rural villages are agricultural areas.
b. Urban areas (urban)
For areas of concentration of agricultural business, the implementation of complete enumeration is done door-to-door, and for non-concentrated areas the implementation of complete enumeration is done by snowball. Determination of the concentration of agricultural businesses is based on the number of agricultural business households in each village with an average cut of point for agricultural business households from SP 2010 per village in urban districts.

2) City
a. Strata concentration of agricultural business
Implementation of complete enumeration of AC 2013 households is conducted door to door.
b. Non-concentrated strata of agricultural business
The complete enumeration of AC 2013 households was done by snowball.
Weighting
The census was a complete enumeration activity. No weights were used in analysis.
