During the electronic data processing, the field supervisors were asked to encode 1 if CODE 3 - COOPERATIVE is encircled in the survey returns.
The encoded number one (1) acts much like a "tick mark" and allowed the data processing system to count the responses pertaining to the said source of planting material.
