During the electronic data processing, the field supervisors were asked to encode 1 if CODE 4 - Poor Quality of Produce is encircled as the sample farmer's reason for lower production.
The encoded number one (1) acts much like a "tick mark" and allowed the data processing system to count the responses pertaining to the said reason.
