Definition

Wholesaler-retailer - one who buys the produce in large quantities either from producers, wholesalers or contract buyers. He sells mainly to retailers on a wholesale basis and retails those that are not sold to retailers. He usually has his own stall in the market area.

During the electronic data processing, the field supervisors were asked to encode 1 if CODE 3 - Wholesaler-retailer is encircled as one of the sample farmer's buyers of tomato produce.
The encoded number one (1) acts much like a "tick mark" and allowed the data processing system to count the responses pertaining to the said type of buyer.
