During the electronic data processing, the field supervisors were asked to encode 1 if CODE 4 - No Buyer/Market Outlet is encircled as one of the marketing problems encountered by the sample farmer.
The encoded number one (1) acts much like a "tick mark" and allowed the data processing system to count the responses pertaining to the said marketing problem.
