During the electronic data processing, the field supervisors were asked to encode 1 if CODE 1 - Planting Materials is encircled as one of the benefits received by the sample farmer.
The encoded number one (1) acts much like a "tick mark" and allowed the data processing system to count the responses pertaining to the said benefit.
