During the electronic data processing, the field supervisors were asked to encode 1 if CODE 4 - Decrease in frequency of plowing is encircled as one the sample farmer's perceived effect of climate change in his/her farming practices.
The encoded number one (1) acts much like a "tick mark" and allowed the data processing system to count the responses pertaining to the said effect.
