    Abstract

The FAO has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). Between 24 October and 27 November 2021 FAO launched a face-to-face household survey. About 3,840 households were planned and 3,685 (96%) of households responded to the survey across the 14 administrative districts (admin 2 level) according to the 2015 population and housing census from 340 enumeration areas. Sampling

    Sampling Procedure

F2F data collection in Sierra Leone was conducted between 24th October to 27th November, 2021 using Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) by trained enumerators. 320 Enumeration Areas (EAs) were selected across the 14 districts (considering the old administrative boundary of 2015 Population and housing census). With this in mind, twenty (20) EAs were selected per district, with the exception of Bombali and Koinadugu that had 40 EAs each. Twelve (12) household were selected per EA to make a total of 3,840 households to be targetted. This means that each district had a quota of 240 households. At the end of the data collection, data was received for 3,685 (96%).

    Weighting
