    Abstract

The Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), complying with its mandate to define the nutrition situation in the country, particularly among various population groups, conducted the 2003, or Sixth, National Nutrition Survey (NNS). This was a follow-through of the NNS of 1978, 1982, 1987, 1993, and 1998, and the Updating of the Nutritional Status of Filipino Children in 1989/90, 1992, 1996, and 2001. The Sixth NNS included four major components, namely, Anthropometric Nutrition Survey, Biochemical Nutrition Survey, Clinical Nutrition Survey and Food Consumption Survey.
