Agricultural Survey [ag/oth]
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). FAO launched the Round 5, Face-to-Face (F2F) interviews survey between 5 September and 1 October 2023 to monitor agricultural livelihoods and food security in Chad. Data were collected in 484 villages across 22 departments in the provinces of Kanem, Lac, Logone Occidental, Moyen-Chari, Moyen-Kebbi Est, and Wadi Fira. In total, 5321 agricultural and non-agricultural households were surveyed. The survey estimates are representative at the departmental level (administrative level 2).

Data were collected through Face-to-Face (F2F) surveys in 484 villages in 22 departments of the provinces of Kanem, Lac, Logone Occidental, Moyen-Chari, Moyen Kebbi Est, and Wadi Fira. A total of 5321 agricultural and non-agricultural households were interviewed. The survey estimates are representative at department level (administrative level 2) and the sample was designed with a 10 percent margin of error.
A standard weighting approach is used, though the specific combination of weights depends on factors such as sub-group quotas, availability of baseline data, and appropriate context-specific wealth indicators. Specifically, base weights were applied to correct for unequal probabilities of household selection across administrative level 2 units, accounting for differences between the actual population size and the number of surveyed households in each area.
