Sample Frame, Households [sf/hh]
The Agricultural Household Listing in Guinea-Bissau was conducted under the 50x2030 Initiative to establish an updated sampling frame for the country's programme of annual integrated agricultural surveys. The operation was undertaken in response to the absence of a recent and comprehensive frame of agricultural households; the most recent household listing was the 2009 Population and Housing Census which no longer reflected the current demographic and agricultural landscape.
The household listing aimed to identify and enumerate households within the selected enumeration areas, collect key information on their agricultural activities, and identify agricultural households eligible for inclusion in the agricultural survey programme. The resulting sampling frame provides the foundation for the selection of representative survey samples and contributes to the production of timely, high-quality agricultural statistics for monitoring national agricultural policies and international development frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union's Agenda 2063.

The primary sampling units (Census Districts) selected for the listing were chosen using probability proportional to size (PPS), with the number of households serving as the measure of size. The selection was stratified by region. The distribution of the sample by region was as follows:
TOMBALI: 34; QUINARA: 29; OIO: 38; BIOMBO: 48; BOLAMA: 33; BAFATA: 41; GABU: 32; CACHEU: 64.
All Census District sampled were covered during the listing.

Data quality during the data collection phase was ensured through both field supervision and digital supervision. To this end, an error detection script was developed and run on a weekly basis, and instructions were regularly sent to enumerators to correct missing values and data inconsistencies. In addition, a dashboard was developed to monitor the progress of data collection. These quality control activities were carried out throughout the entire data collection period (from August to November 2025).
A training of enumerators was conducted from 14 to 18 July 2025. The Portuguese version of the question was implemented for the data collection.
The validation checks built into the data collection application, together with continuous monitoring of fieldwork, resulted in datasets with minimal data quality issues. The few remaining missing values were imputed either through logical deduction or using the median, as appropriate. In addition, households were assigned sequential numbers within each enumeration area to identify and eliminate false duplicates and to establish the second-stage sampling frame.
To protect the confidentiality of survey respondents, Statistical Disclosure Control (SDC) methods were applied to the microdata before dissemination. All direct identifiers were removed, and selected quasi-identifiers were anonymized using appropriate disclosure control techniques to minimize the risk of re-identification. These measures ensure that the released dataset complies with confidentiality requirements while preserving its usefulness for statistical analysis and research purposes.
